Mayor’s Office

WELCOME HOME!

As Mayor of the City of Saltillo, I would like to welcome you to our website.

Saltillo is located in Northeast Mississippi. We are conveniently located on the north side of the City of Tupelo. The southern boundary of our city limits is just 3 miles along U.S. Highway 45 from Interstate 22 (formerly U.S. Highway 78) and 1.5 miles from Barnes Crossing Road which is the retail hub of North Mississippi.  Saltillo’s main business district sits at the intersection of U.S. Highway 45 and Mississippi State Highway 145. Saltillo’s Historic Downtown is located approximately 3\4 of a mile to the east on Mississippi State Hwy 363 or Mobile Street. Downtown Saltillo is also located one mile west of the Natchez Trace Parkway. We are an hour and a half drive from Memphis and a two and a half hour drive from Birmingham.

Saltillo has been one of the fastest growing small towns in Mississippi since the late 1990s. We are a city with a great history, but we are creating our own history now as many young families move to our city to raise their families in a wholesome and conservative community that has a very low crime rate. Our small Historic Downtown is making a comeback. Several of the buildings have been recently renovated and some are under renovation for new businesses at this time.  We are seeing new homes being built within walking distance of downtown. There is real excitement about the downtown area.  Saltillo Main Street Association was formed in 2015 and is one of the newest Main Street Associations in Mississippi. The City of Saltillo and the Saltillo Main Street Association are committed to building community by bringing our citizens together with city wide events. Some of those events are the Party at the Lake, the Downtown Get Down Antique Car and Motorcycle Show, Dinner and Music at the Park and the Scarecrow Festival.

Our schools are part of the Lee County School District.  Saltillo’s schools are the largest of the Lee County Schools and are made up of four campuses, Saltillo Primary School, Saltillo Elementary School and Saltillo High School, which are all within the city limits of Saltillo and Guntown Middle School which is located in our neighboring town of Guntown. Saltillo Schools are considered to be some of the top schools in North Mississippi and a part of the reason that our city continues to grow.

The City of Saltillo is committed to providing a great quality of life for our citizens. We have a very active park and recreation program. We provide baseball, soccer, basketball, flag and tackle football and tennis for children and youth. We are also starting programs for adults to encourage a healthy life style. Some of these include:  Zumba, Piyo, couch to 5k and tennis. One of our goals is to add walking trails throughout the city. There are three parks located in the City of Saltillo, City Park,  W.K. Webb Sportsplex and Wesson Park.  These parks are home to 12 baseball/softball fields, 7 soccer\football fields, 4 tennis courts, 2 fitness trails, playgrounds, pavilions and a community center.

Lake Lamar Bruce, an over 300 acre Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Lake sits just outside the City Limits and provides outstanding fishing for Bass, Bream, Catfish, Crappie and Walleye.  This is also a good place for boating, kayaking, skiing, and picnicking. Campgrounds are also available.

We invite you to experience our small town life.   Slow down, get to know your neighbors and build your family’s future right here with us. Experience a slower pace, a friendly face and home for folks that desire the best of small town life. Come be our guest and see what we mean when we say, “WELCOME HOME” to Saltillo “Where getting away from it all isn’t that far after all”!
