Welcome!
Welcome to Saltillo!
– The Vision is the continuation of growth of Our Great City!
Saltillo is a classic “hometown” community, located just minutes North of the bustling city of Tupelo. We’ve been a happy place to live since 1870, when we were incorporated and named after the city of Saltillo down in Old Mexico.
We’ve grown to have a population of just over 5,100 residents. Most of our citizens work locally, but a great many find their occupations in Tupelo and just make the (very) short commute every day. Saltillo has taken advantage of it’s proximity to it’s larger neighbor – with a quiet, easy lifestyle and attractive housing costs it’s becoming a haven for families that appreciate a more tranquil and traditional lifestyle after a busy day at work.
Saltillo is a great place to raise a family! We’re very proud of our school system, which serves not only Saltillo but a large portion of Lee County as well. Visit www.leecountyschools.us to take a tour. We know our children are safe in school, and are being well prepared for college and a productive adult life.
Our City leadership is organized by a Mayor & Alderman system of governance. Mayor Copey A. Grantham is a former law enforcement officer and former Political Director for the Lt. Governor’s office. Mayor Grantham was elected to serve in 2021. Our elected Aldermen meet twice monthly at City Hall, and the meetings are open to the public.
