Saltillo Schools

The Lee County School District consists of thirteen schools and a center for academic improvement that serve kindergarten through twelfth grade. Campuses are located in Belden, Guntown, Mooreville, Plantersville, Saltillo, Shannon, and Verona. There are 7,000 students currently enrolled in all programs offered throughout the district which employs 1,000 certified and non-certified people. Lee County Schools is among the largest in size of school districts in the state.

LCS rating:
The MS Department of Education’s most recent report recognizes our district with two “A” rated schools.

Blue Ribbon School:
Saltillo High School is recognized as a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School and a Star School.

Certified Teachers:
There are nearly 80 National Board Certified Teachers in the district. Forty-seven percent of our teachers hold advanced degrees.

The district has school nurses for each campus; all schools have a full-time counselor and a librarian; a GED Option program is available for eligible students in grades 8-12; and the district offers the occupational diploma through the Special Education Program. Each campus has its own in-school suspension program located on site and school resource officers are available to all schools.

Lee County School District residents passed a $13.5 million bond issue in 2013 to renovate and add to facilities at campuses throughout the district. This includes a new 7th grade building at Plantersville Middle School, and a newly constructed physical education building and cafeteria and classroom expansions on the campus of Saltillo Primary School.

Saltillo High School has an expanded cafeteria and new classrooms.

Guntown Middle School students are enjoying new classrooms and a courtyard area.
